RE: Ripped Off??????

The automotive industry sucks. We'll continue to get raked over the coals because the automakers continue to make their cars to advanced to be worked on by the average guy. Oh well. I'm not shedding any tears when I see the mess they're in. Greed, from the top down. Like I said, if the car's under warranty. Just take it to the dealer for the diagnosis. That's what you're paying for.

RE: Ripped Off??????

he asked them to check and see what the light was about. He told them the car was under warranty and so, if it was some thing expensive, he would need to take it to the dealer. That's the first problem right there. If the car is under warranty, NEVER let an independent shop check for any problems. ALWAYS go to the dealer. As far as the cost of the read, yes, that sounds like alot of money. But, that sounds like what most shops charge. So, even though it sucks, their price is probably dead on. Sorry that happened. Chalk it up to a life lesson learned the hard way. I know I've had more than a few. LOL

RE: GM Red Tag SAle-anybody know any details?

I wouldn't even check my e-mail for an offer of $3400 off MSRP. I'm looking more like $18k or so.

RE: New TV. Ford F350

Congrats....nice truck. I think you'll have MANY happy miles out of that V10. And as Capt Skup posted, you can't beat that combo of the V10 and Torqueshift. Well done. Keep us informed as you pull or just drive it.

RE: Edmunds. long term test 07 Chevy Silverado 1500, not good.

Junk....Too bad. All 3 have their achilles heals. But, I'm not a big fan of half ton pickups anyways. My BIL just bought an 07 Silverado. I tried telling him he should go with the 2500 so he can plow with it. But, no dice. I've got 38k miles on my 250 and plow with since new. It still shifts nice and smooth. That's a big issue when you're rating a truck. It shouldn't break down.

RE: 2008 Chevy 2500HD Duramax

I agree...sounds really tempting, but I bet if you hold out, and even hint at looking at other dealerships or makes, they'll come back with a better offer. Maybe even a couple grand lower. Somebody posted seeing a dealer offer 50% off MSRP. Sheez...

RE: Ford 6.0L Diesel news

If I understand your question correctly EB, it goes like this. (Or so I understand as the story goes) Navistar had designed the 6.0. Not a bad engine up to around 250 HP or so. The other two had big dogs in the game by then with the D-Max and the Cummins. The D-max was at 300 HP then. I don't know what the HP of the HO Cummins was back then so I can't speak to that. The HP game was on and Ford did not want to be the 100lb weakling in the HP race. Navistar tested the engine at around 250 HP and said it was good to go. Ford could not live with that as the bow tie was at 300HP. Ford jacked the puter fuel rate up or told Navistar to jack it up. (I think Ford did it with their own puter??) I think that is some of the law suite between the two companies. Navistar said they gave Ford a good engine and we can prove it because it runs good and lasts good in other applications. Ford said it was junk from the outset. Ford just turned a good engine into a bomb with the fuse lit. All it needed was customers to drive it until it went off. Like the 6.2 GM engine, the 6.0 was a good engine when rated to a lower HP setting. Jack it up and watch the parts fly. :B Turtle N Peeps-- Excellent post. I think it sums up the problem pretty well. I'm a diehard Ford man. This was a FORD problem, not a Navistar problem. Navistar can build a light duty diesel engine for our trucks in their sleep. Ford needs a wake up call. My next truck, if it's a diesel, will be GM or Dodge.

RE: Ford 6.0L Diesel news

Another case of greed, going after the deep pockets. His loss should be limited to no more than the depreciated value of the truck. What a foolish thing to post. Guys, like myself, who rely on our trucks to put food on the table buy trucks based on past experience. Ford had a great diesel reputation. They RUSHED the 6.0 into production. You want to talk about greed? Look no further than the big cats in Detroit. Not the hard working Joes who use their trucks to pay bills.

RE: W-I-D-E front axle on F-350!! When did they hit the market?

Any pics showing the difference? I've never heard of this. I wonder if it helps with snowplowing?

RE: Got rid of my EX and found me a new MEGA love....

Looking at an 07, with 35000 miles, all the goodies, they want $27,900 for the rig. 07 QC 2500 HD 6.7 -AT- 2 WD Good price? In a nutshell? HECK NO!!! That's a terrible price. You can get a new one with 4x4 for $32k here.

RE: Why I tow with a diesel (pic)

A diesel can't be beat going up that kind of grade. Not to mention, coming down that grade. If you have that exhaust brake, you'd probably not even need the brakes. This is another point for diesel. Perhaps my next truck......?

RE: Got the new truck bug and can't decide

I have the 5.4 with 3:73 gearing. To be perfectly honest, if I had to do it again, I'd opt for the V10. I've read that the difference in mpg is not much and the extra power is nice. However, with that being said, I absolutely love my 5.4 V8. It's done everything I've asked of it and then some. It tows wonderfully and I use it to plow. It pushes snow like a monster. Yes it's a heavy truck, but the 5.4 is a very dependable engine with a great reputation. I've seen many go past the 100-150k mile mark and are still pushing. I don't think you'll be sorry either way, but you know your needs better than I do.

RE: Would you still buy a 4x4 if you had

4x4 is the only truck for me, whether I pay cash or credit. It doesn't matter.

RE: 08 F-150 SuperCrew - 4.6 or 5.4?

5.4 all the way. I had 2 of the 4.6's and I really liked them. They were great engines. But, I think the 5.4 is going to be a better fit in that big truck. Like was mentioned, you'll have some room to grow.

RE: Nissan heavy duty pickups and commercial trucks

I'd love to see one. As long as they don't look like the grocery getter rendering on the article, I'd be very interested. Nissan makes good vehicles and they've been around long enough to back a claim in the HD world. Can't wait to see it.

RE: 2005 Ford F350 - Mileage on the 6.0 and is it reliable?

Here's my .02-- Cummins over PSD, but Ford over Dodge. Can't quite win. So, it comes down to your personal tastes. The Cummins is truly legendary. But I love the fit and durability of the Ford truck. So, it's really up to you as to which is more important.

RE: Frisco TX man says HOA won't let him park pickup on driveway

HOA's suck. What a bunch of haughty losers. I understand drawing the lines regarding how a house looks or what kind of fencing is used, but saying an F 150 can't be parked in the drive is outrageous. That's stupid. It's amazing how so many people are out of touch with reality.
